GNU Free Documentation License wat r cookies n cache in internet terminology??? Q. wat r cookies n cache in internet terminology??? Asked by vetruvial_man - Thu Dec 7 16:22:24 2006 - - 3 Answers - 0 Comments A. cookies are a small text file that websites are permitted to store on your computer. You may have noticed that some sites that you need to log in to remember who you are the next time you visit. This is because they are able to use the information in the cookie to identify you as the same user who previously visited the site. The cache is a store of webpages that you have viewed recently. When you visit a website, one of the first bits of info to be exchanged between your computer and the other end is the date and time that the page you want to view was last modified. If the copy in your cache carries this same date/time or is more recent, then you don't need to redownload it, and you browser will show you the one from your cache instead.… [cont.] Answered by spender - Thu Dec 7 16:30:45 2006 How can I discover how many people are logging on (stealing) someone's wireless internet connection? Q. Even though I am a medical doctor, I get a lot of requests from friends and family who know absolutely nothing about computers to help set up or troubleshoot their home networks, especially their wireless networks. I am not a computer guru, I just know how to follow instructions and understand enough terminology to get by, and I am pretty successful at this. An employee where I work needs me to put security on her family's wireless connection. She says that they have a Linksys router, some sort of Linksys ethernet bridge for their X-box, and a PC that connects wirelessly. They also happen to live near a bunch of college students, and their internet speed drops off tremendously when the students get out of bed. I know how to set up… [cont.] Asked by XOUT - Tue May 1 12:27:33 2007 - - 5 Answers - 0 Comments A. Dont waist your time on tring to figure out how many, just secure the network. There are many many forums and articals and support doc on line to explain this. But you are opening a can of worms. Every device and computer on that network will all have to be configured with the same security settings as the router. That is why people pay me to service them. It is a big pain and many varibles can come into play. So a volunteered assistance may net you a lot of head ache, because it may all get complicated fast. But I am sure all the students thank them for the free internet. Each port on a router can service 256 PCs at once. Q. Hello there, I am a newbie and have keenful interest in internet terminology and happenings. Recently I found these terms on a few websites and wondered if there is any difference b/w addons, plugins , extensions and apis or these are all just the same and are alternatives to each other. Mozilla provides addons, google provides apis and openoffice provides extensions. Are these all same terms of enhancements of a software or there is any difference? Suggest in accuracy please.
