FILE SHARING?????!!!!?
Q. Hi, I really need a program (preferably) that will let me file share with ease. Something like network magic would be good so any idea's? It needs to be completely free no trial thanks also if anyone knows definatly how to set up file sharing between a windows XP and Vista pc please tell me!

A. To join XP and Vista PCs together, you need a small component file which solves all Vista - Xp networking problems. Unfortunately Microsoft fail to advertise this well enough for most people to find. I've included the address where you can find this file (LLTD). You need to share the folder/folders and enable file sharing (on your local network) in your firewall.

A. no filesharing pograms becuase they work using spyware which is second worst to spyware.if you dont do anything then it becomes viruses. It allows companies to look through all your files in your computer and erase them or intall new software. Trust me i know this from ecxperience.try some free closed network pograms that means there like filesharing but you only download and upload files you want without any harmfull stuff for your computer. has a music search and you can download all the songs you want without registration and i been using it for over a year and no viruses or spyware yet!

File sharing music lawsuits? How many songs are these people sharing that they get sued?
Q. I read somewhere that like over 30 million Americans file share music. How can the RIAA sue this many people? The people that they are suing, how many songs are they sharing? Is it people who download or specifically share?
Asked by Womb Buster - Sat Sep 8 23:16:39 2007 - - 1 Answers - 0 Comments
A. The thing is, they know how many people do this, but they don't know who. People get found out when they use computers on a certain network, like college students using their computers on the colleges network get found out if they use file sharing programs, and the college either punishes them, or tells the appropiate people to sue the students. How many songs? Well, that depends on the person. Some people get all their songs by file sharing, others only have a few. But regardless of how many songs they've downloaded, they are still able to be sued. And many thousends of dollors too.

Can file sharing sites steal files off my computer?
Q. I share a computer with other people and use file sharing sites like Mediafire. Can sites like this steal documents off my computer? And if I share the computer, can it access files that even I have no access to?
Asked by ichigootaku01 - Fri Nov 20 17:16:23 2009 - - 2 Answers - 0 Comments
A. The short answer is no. Mediafire, in particular, requires that you upload media before it's actually shared. If it did post files without your permission, the site would be considered malicious and therefore illegal. I included a link with more information about mediafire in particular. It will give you a better idea about how this site and sites like it work. I hope this helps. :)

Q. I have tried to use countless file sharing programs on my new lap top (Bearshare, Limewire, Ares, Kazaa) but most of them don't seem to work. A. Hi Manda You have almost answered your own question. It isn't the individual programme that isn't working it is your firewall that is stopping them working. Now the firewall could be a piece of software on your computer or it could be built into the hardware you are using (like a wireless router) or you could even have both. File sharing programmes to work to their best need to have two way communication with the Internet so that you can download files from others and so that others can download files from you. Even if you set no files to share the software still checks to see if communications are two way. If they are not then they set your computer to a low ID and you are at the bottom of the list when it comes to downloading. Your… [cont.]

Programs like Limewire allow the creation of a private network that only people you add to it can see it. here are some others: as for creating your own p2p network well you would have to learn how to write the software i believe programs like emule are open source so that maybe a start. Then i guess you create a program and it creates a network by sharing files on it then you need others to use the same program to make your network go anywhere. A. The best way is to not download any movies, but wheres the fun in that? Open My Computer from the Start Menu or Windows XP Desktop. A new My Computer window will appear. Open the Tools menu and choose the "Folder Options..." option from this menu. A new Folder Options window will appear. Click on the View tab and locate the "Use Simple File Sharing (Recommended)" checkbox in the list of Advanced Settings. To disable Simple File Sharing, ensure this checkbox is not checked. Click inside the checkbox to alternately enable and disable the option. Click OK to close the Folder Options window. The settings for Simple File Sharing are now updated; no computer reboot is required.

In order to share documents from pc to pc, user accounts must be present on all machines. Passwords must be identical. For sake of this demonstration, we'll use your "Laptop" and "Desktop" as examples. We will use accounts "Larry" for the laptop and "Diane" for desktop. Larry uses his Laptop. Larry is logged into his Laptop just fine. He wants to access files from the "Desktop" In order to get files from "Desktop", the user "Larry" must have the same username and password on the computer "Desktop" as he does on Laptop. A. On each computer choose a folder to share. Right click on that folder and choose the sharing option. When prompted, turn on print and file sharing. Be sure to set the permissions so others can change and add files. Make sure each PC is in the same workgroup. Right click on my computer, choose properties, then the computer Name tab. Make sure the firewall on each PC is set to allow print and file sharing.

A. Many have servers that originate outside of the US and are not subject to US law, OR have a 'disclaimer' that states that the software can only be used for legal transfer of files. IE files you made or own.

How much money has been lost due to illegal file sharing?
Q. I need to know approximately (obviously exact isn't possible to know) how much money has been lost to either music piracy or all file sharing in general. Please provide a source where you got that information. When i say "how much has been lost" I mean how much money worth of music/software has been downloaded.

A. Several flaws in your question: "all file sharing in general" would assume that all pp2/filesharing/torrentin g is illegal, which is not the case. "When i say "how much has been lost" I mean how much money worth of music/software has been downloaded." is an issue as well becxause not all downloads == lost sale, AND not all downloaded software == pirated software - Open Source, freeware, etc.

shared router: How do I block 1 user from viewing other users who have simple file sharing enabled?
Q. 4 computers are being shared through a router. 3 ppl have simple file sharing enabled(And need to keep it that way!): 4th person needs to have access to the internet but not to the other pcs. What's the shortest way to do so?

A. Use different workgroups. It won't make any difference for IP routing, only for the shared files.

Very often we find ourselves using torrents to download foreign TV shows. But no matter what you use torrents for, if you're familiar with them, than you know.
