What is the chance of getting caught downloading illegal music?
Q. ok so im only 12 and i got the crazed, paranoid addiction to listen to michael jackson music. SOOO for the past couple weeks i have been downloading music from websites such as airmp3, mp3raid, bee mp3 etc. Then i decided to make them into a cd..which i learned is very illegal. now im worried about getting caught, i heard about the lady who had to pay thousands for the illegal music! what do i do now??

A. I wouldn't worry about it. I 've downloaded songs from those websites for years and nothin's ever happened. The way I see it, if thos websites are illegal, why doesn't the gov' or whoever shut them down. How are people supposed to know they are illegal if they're still up there. I mean that's equivalent to areesting someone for buying drugs, but not arresting the oerson who sold it to them. I wouldn't worry about it. And don't listen to that Julius guy above me, nothing like that will happen. And besides you 12-- a minor, nothing could happen to you anyway,

What do you think of the RIAA working with ISP's to stop illegal downloading?
Q. So the RIAA is going to stop suing individuals for illegally downloading music and instead have the ISP contact the customer and tell them to stop. The customer's internet service could be completely discontinued or the customer could be charged for every download (similar to itunes). What do you think about this? Do you think it will be effective?

A. its definitely fair, i just dont think itll b effective. its very fair b/c even though some may b outraged that they cant download songs for free anymore, they shouldnt b doing that in the first place. however, they can stop people from SHARING music, like emailing it 2 each other and stuff, but they cant stop them from illegally downloading it. people could easily tell each other where they downloaded the file, etc. friends could also all chip in for one cd and pass it around which i guess wouldnt necessarily be illegal downloading, but isnt fair either. it may be effective at first, but after people get that they cant do it anymore, theyll either just not download the songs anymore or theyll find some other way around it good… [cont.]

Why is downloading songs from Limewire illegal?
Q. I've never done it, it's just that I hear people say it and all. and I wanna know why, do the artist get money taken away from them? Does the record company get money taken away from them? Why is it illegal to download songs from Limewire?
Asked by IluvBanannas<3 - Sun Mar 29 09:04:49 2009 - - 5 Answers - 0 Comments

A. It's a sharing website. People put there own songs on there (we don't know how they have come to own them) and we download them for 1 a year!!! The programme Limewire isn't illegal, it's if you use it and keep it that makes it illegal. Limewire is the biggest illegal music downloader used on the internet. It's not just illegal, people put songs on limewire that means they can attach anything they want to that song (a virus?). So downloading a potential illegal song with maybe a virus attached to it is just stupid. Here is an article about limewire and everything you will need to know on wikipedia (look at the first bit, it's the bit you will need to know, it's under the title File sharing and the law): Be safe and you need to know… [cont.]
