What to go in Makati and things close by to visit?
Q. I am going to the Philippines soon and staying in the Makati area. I was wondering what are some sites there as well as near by areas that worth visiting. I am looking for museums, natural attractions and parks and market places thank you.

A. Museums - Ayala Museum - Yuchengco Museum Natural Attractions Makati is a very developed city that is mostly a business district so it has no natural attractions to visit. Malls Greenbelt, Glorietta and Landmark - these three are interconnected so it's pretty convenient. Go to Greenbelt if you are into branded stuff. Glorietta is more for the C - D markets while you can get good bargains in Landmark. Nearby places Malls - SM Mall of Asia in Pasay. A shopping haven for the shopaholic in you. It also has a lot of restaurants and at night, it's frequented by most people as there may be a concert or any other activity like product launches. - Bonifacio Global City. What are some cool things to do in Makati?
Q. I will be staying there for a few weeks but I'm not planning to travel elsewhere once I get there. I'm just gonna stay in Makati. What are some things to do that will keep me busy for about 3 weeks?

A. My first impulse was to say "shop, shop, shop"...but it may not be that appealing to you coz you're a guy. So let's do some guy stuff, okay? --- hang out in swanky restos and pubs; watch a movie or two; girl-watch at the malls (pay particular attention to what they buy...you can tell a lot about a girl by her shopping habits); visit a church or two (you don't have to be a Catholic to do so); dance the night away; soak in some culture (visit some art museums maybe); get some action at MSE (play the market or just observe); hang out in the library (perfect place to meet ladies!); nature-watch maybe; or just go wherever. Take the usual precautions and enjoy yourself. Stay cool.

How do I get from Makati to Clark Air Force Base?
Q. Also, what is there to do around the base? Are there historical tours? How long is the ride from Makati to Clark? I will be in the Philippines next week.

A. I wouldn't skip Manila for Angles City unless you have relatives to visit right away. Clark Airport is near Angeles City and Dau. Clark is a former US Air Force base. There are still many of US expats living in that area. Most of the nightlife is along Fields Avenue. There are travel agencies you can use for some tours - like to Mt. Pinataubo. Swagman is one travel agency that I remember but there are others. See map: You can eat and drink at this place and get info from other expats if you want. From Manila you can take the Victory Liner bus to Dau. Dau is real close to the Clark Airport and Fields Avenue. Or, my advice is to stay in the Ermita area of Manila for a few days. In that area you will have the Robinson Mall, [cont.]

If I stay in Makati I will probably stay in a condo near Greenbelt but if I stay in the Fort then I will probably stay at a place like McKinley or Serendra. Which is best and why?

A. Makati is better though The Fort is a nice location but try to think about the nearest places you want to go.. In Makati you wont get bored as there are plenty of places that are accessible for you. Are you going to say the Laguna Condo in Greenbelt? Very nice choice! hehehe

Thanks for the help! I am planning to stay 1 to 2 days, I've checked out all the prices that you suggested but it seems they are all out of my budget. A. 2 hours! from clark airport, there is bus there going to cubao - pasay. you have to pay near the customs, just steps away from exit area. you can take the bus for only 350 pesos. and from pasay terminal, just 15 minutes away from makati, you can just take the taxi for at least 70 pesos up to 120, depends on where in makati you're heading. from pasay, let the driver charge you according to the meter. another option is take a taxi for at least 3000pesos. so if the taxi driver charges you more than that, don't accept it. negotiate first before getting inside the taxi. try to get it for 2000 pesos. there are a lot of hotels in makati. you can take sogo hotel or something like shangri - la or intercon. food centers are accessible. … [cont.]

A. Get off at MRT Buendia station. Exit the MRT station towards the right (toward Shell gas station). When you get down the stairs, cross the street, which is Buendia Ave (Sen Gil Puyat). By the Shell gas station is a jeepney terminal. Take a jeepney ride. You want to get off at Malugay street (about 1.8-km up Buendia). Cross Buendia Ave. The street becomes Tordesillas on the other side. Walk up Tordesillas (about 70-m) to the first corner. This street is HV Dela Costa. Turn left at the corner. Another 150-m on your right is Ateneo Professional Schools Building.
