A. Google type in torrent site or file share. a list of sites and programs will come up vuse and limewire are some popular ones. You can only bluetooth songs if you computer has bluetooth. but there are free sites that let you send songs to your phone just google that. But if you have usb charger for your phone you can just drag and drop songs to your phone. if you need more help message me.

How to use "Internet Sharing" option in windows XP?
Q. I have two computers one is connected to internet via DSL, how to share internet on other computer using windows XP internet sharing option.
Asked by Bravo - Wed Jun 6 08:43:35 2007 - Computer Networking - 2 Answers - Comments

A. To do this in the computer with the DSL connected you will need two ethernet cards (or USB connection to net and one ethernet card) Once that is done enable ICS (internet connection sharing) on the machine with the DSL connected. That will "bridge the two connectors" and should enable the other machine to connect. Microsoft has a great step by step for this.. just look for ICS or internet connection sharing on the website.

How do I disable "File and Printer Sharing" on my pc?
Q. I recently got the Conficker worm on my desktop. I have found that disabling the File and Printer Sharing On All Network Connections can help to prevent this from happening again, and also it reduces the risk of a lot of viruses, worms and trojans. I don't know where to go on my pc's to do this. Can someone let me know please?
Asked by James S Godzilla - Sun Mar 14 23:54:11 2010 - Security - 1 Answers - Comments

A. Control Panel > Printers and Faxes Right-click on your printer icon, go down to where it says Sharing, and place a tick in the box next to where it says Do not share this printer. On each hard drive, or partition, that you are sharing you will see a hand beneath that hard drive/partition when you click on My Computer. To stop sharing a specific hard drive/partition, right-click on the hard drive/partition icon and select Sharing and Security. Remove the tick from the box next to where it says Share this folder on the network. You do realise [realize, if you're American], don't you, that this means you won't be able to see files on these shared hard drives/partitions if you do this?

Once I delete the "file sharing" folder, can I still get a virus?
Q. I sometime like to download songs. My techie friend says that it's possible to get a virus not necessarily from downloading the songs, but from the 'file sharing' itself. If someone wants a song that I have, it's very possible to get the virus as the song is going out from the file sharing folder. Is this true? Could I avoid this sort of thing by deleting the 'file sharing' folder, & just keep the songs in "my music"?

A. No, this is not possible; it is complete rubbish. If you download viruses, it's a different story.

What exactly does the "simple file sharing" in windows XP do?
Q. Is it more secure to disable this function? I have 3 computers connected to a wireless router. My computer is connected directly to the router and the other two are wireless. What do I need to do to stop all sharing between the computers except for whatever files(if any) are necessary for to connect to the wireless router. Also when I turn off the simple file sharing then the whole root of the C drive is automatically shared? Why does that happen
Asked by Bill - Wed Apr 11 22:06:46 2007 - Security - 3 Answers - Comments

A. Simple File Sharing is a network security feature that came out with Windows XP. Its' purpose is to "simplify" what could otherwise be a big management hassle with creating user accounts on each machine; and assigning each with different access rights, passwords, permissions, etc. It treats anyone who tries to use shared resources as "Guest". So, if you don't want to share anything (don't want a network) just disable the Guest account. It removes Everyone from the permissions list to access the Windows directory, so that only authorized locally logged on users can get access to it. (Administrator Accounts). When you share folders, Windows automatically applies the correct permissions to the shared folder so that… [cont.]

A. "Tony" is correct. Passwords encrypt your router preventing bandwidth theft, and 'snooping' your traffic. Use WPA2-AES if your gear supports that level. Cookie control is now a 'must do' item: Get Firefox as your default browser & use it for everyday surfing; fall back to IE only for "last resort" viewing of substandard websites & Windows updates. The following tips help, but methods (vectors) constantly change. FIREFOX: Tools> Options> Privacy> top drop menu set to "Firefox will use custom settings..."> Check 'Accept Cookies from sites' & Un-Check 'Accept 3rd Party cookies' This list is a few of the essential items you should have. Note that the Internet is so dynamic, and exploits… [cont.]

What exactly is "file sharing" and how is it different from on-line pirating?
Q.

A. i think its beacuse with online pirating the people that put it on there didnt get the permission which makes it illeagal but with file sharing its unilleagle because the people that put it on there are giving you the permission to use there file and download it.

How to ensure you're not "sharing" on Mac Book Pro?
Q. Hi, I use my Mac Book Pro on a public internet connection at school. Sometimes I notice other people's Macs come up in my finder under "shared" and I can look at the files on their computer. I want to make sure mine isn't popping up on other's the same way! I don't like sharing ;) I've gone into System Preferences --> Internet & Wireless --> Sharing --> and unchecked every box. Will that do it? Or is there something else I need to do? Thanks!

A. You did the 1st step by unchecking all the boxes in Sharing. You can do one more thing by enabling 'Stealth Mode'. Go to System Preferences, Firewall, check the button 'Allow only essential services', then click the Advanced button, check 'Enable Stealth Mode' and hit 'ok'.

Asked by - Tue Apr 24 09:15:32 2012 - Computer Networking - 1 Answers - Comments

A. In a home situation, ICS is not needed. It allows multiple computers to access the internet from the connection of one computer. Its a bit involved on how to do it, and in a home setting, if you have broadband, such as Cable or DSL, all you really need to do to connect multiple PC's to the internet is get a router. You don't need Internet Connection Sharing, and if its missing from your list, you don't need it.

A. 1- you have to use bridge connection. On the first computer with Internet connection and also Bluetooth, select both connection (with Ctrl key) and the right click to select Bridge . After that your Bluetooth network is connected to Internet connection and you can share it. Ref: "You can create a Network Bridge connecting two or more local area networks and share the Internet connection with the computers on all of them. This is especially useful if your XP computer is connected to both a wired and wireless network." and check this detail too;
